our story
We’ll answer the obvious right off the bat: yes, we work in other production areas rather than just prepping for a film. Our company was born out of a calling to tell stories that shine a light on the Midwest. At Pre Productions, we have a passion for artists who have something to say and stories that are unique, uncanny and sometimes, flat out weird. Our mantra, push the possible, perfectly describes our goal: to make great films while always pushing the envelope.
Pre Productions was founded in 2021 in Oklahoma City with the sole purpose of bringing a short film to life during the COVID-19 pandemic. When all was said and done, that short film won numerous awards on the festival circuit, which included the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the 2021 deadCenter Film Festival and acceptance into the 2021 Austin Film Festival. So, Garrett Davis and Jack Counts, a producing team, decided to keep the good vibes rolling.

Two lifelong friends who ran on the same cross country team in high school decided to start making movies. Fun fact: they also started working at a photography company together! The rest is history.

Founder, Producer, Actor, Writer
Garrett Davis is a producer, writer and actor from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is best known for his award-winning short film, Stick Up.
Upon graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in journalism, Garrett started writing short screenplays while not working for various marketing agencies as a social media specialist. After meeting Tori Hartley at The Actor Factory in Norman, Oklahoma, the two decided to co-produce Stick Up and eventually brought Chris Oz McIntosh into the fold as a producer, director and editor. For his efforts, Garrett went on to win several awards and was nominated for his first acting accolade for his supporting role in 2022 at the Red Dirt International Film Festival.
When he’s not making films, he works as a Success and Growth Manager for TSS Photography, a national photography franchise celebrating their 40th year of business in 2023. He’s currently in development with a number of shorts and a feature film as of early 2023.

Executive Producer, Boom Operator
Jack Counts is one of Garrett’s good buddies from high school, in the film space, he’s really not known for much! Though he does have an IMDB page that includes his roles as a boom operator and executive producer on the award-winning short film, Stick Up! Plus, some credits for a D&D live play show he was on for a little while. Also, he was the founder of the OU Esports Club. They have scholarships and stuff now! Weird, right?
When he’s not making films, he likes to watch movies, make movies, play video games, and play Dungeons & Dragons. He loves stories and storytelling quite a bit. Currently, he works at Candid Color Systems as a project manager for a photography sales platform called NowCandid. It’s pretty cool.
You can see a Jack on the silver screen in films such as Titanic, The Shining, or Jack Reacher. However, you cannot see this Jack on any silver screen.
Our Speciality
We’re two creators with a passion for zany, out-of-the-ordinary films. Think of our taste as a cross between Quentin Tarantino and the Coen Brothers. Our independent-led creative coalition shoots explosive flicks in and around the Midwest and are constantly looking for avenues to grow our production house.

We’re currently an Oklahoma-based business and will certainly explore creating films in neighboring states. However, we enjoy Oklahoma production given the competitive film incentives!

Great question! And a difficult one. We love all types of movies. Garrett is a huge fan of No Country For Old Men, Whiplash, Pulp Fiction, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Jack loves Little Miss Sunshine, Kill Bill (1 & 2), The Aquatic Life with Steve Zissou and all-things Marvel.
